Dear Visitor,
Welcome to our Cherie & Co. Cosmetics site!
Helping women feel and look their best has been and is a lifelong passion I truly enjoy, and that is why I decided to bring together all of my favorite colors using mineral based, lightweight, non-comedogenic products for women who love makeup just as much as I do - with Cherie & Co. Cosmetics!
I grew up in beautiful San Diego where my experiences as a professional makeup artist began behind the scenes as an aspiring print model and pageant competitor. My modeling days were limited as I was often told "no" by modeling agencies for "not being thin enough" or looking "too ethnic." I fell into pageants by accident when an aunt insisted I join a local pageant to earn scholarship money for school. Feeling completely out of place, save for techniques I picked up in modeling school, I learned to excel under pressure and eventually began to receive recognition as a competitor. I was awarded the titles of Miss San Diego, Miss Orange County, Miss Pacific Coast, and placed Top 5 at Miss California America. My fellow competitors, who were of all skin types and backgrounds, began requesting my work. To see how I was able to boost their self-confidence by highlighting their already beautiful features, gave me even more initiative to further my education as a makeup artist and esthetician.
Initially passing on a full time law school gig after graduating from San Diego State University, I focused on education and eventually decided to pursue skin care and makeup studies at Paul Mitchell and Paul Brown Hawaii. As a licensed esthetician I provide the proper makeup and skin care products for one's skin type.
Working with Elizabeth Arden, Ultima, and Zen Cosmetics broadened my eye to various color palettes and how they compliment skin tones, giving me the experience to select the colors you see in Cherie & Co. Cosmetics products. Plus, the ingredients in our products are so lightweight, you can even wear them while working out as skin does not feel weighed down.
Ironically, always being told "no" as an aspiring young model, these days I have enjoyed working behind the scenes with editorial photographers Kim Mizuno, Lisa Ormsby; and was most recently published in Exquisite Weddings Magazine and The Bride Suite. I have earned the trust of television news producers, news reporters and was extremely honored to have been selected as Top 5 for Best Makeup on KGTV's A-List. Currently, I am most notably known for my work in Bridal Makeup and feel fortunate to have worked in all capacties- from more intimate to larger scale bridal parties and bridal looks.
Competing in pageants helped me appreciate my own diversity and allowed me to participate in events around the community. I continue to be an active member in my community, having lended a hand to different causes for Eastlake Church and Operation Homefront, serving as the managing editor FIL Magazine (Filipinas in Leadership), and also direct the Miss Philippines National Program.
Let your inner beauty shine!
xx,
Cheryl
